Kitchen Update #2

Well the cabinets are painted and my vintage jars are up! I forgot to take a before shot with the cabinet doors on...but you get the idea...BROWN! Phil really worked his tail off helping me get the kitchen redone. We took all the cabinet doors off and painted them plus inside the cabinets themselves. We took three full days painting into the late night to get them done. Phil then crafted a beautiful shelf unit for me to display my vintage canning jars. I had seen one on E-bay that I really liked but would have had to shell out over $50 for it. Phil made a even more lovely one for about $15! I then found a "newer" dishwasher for cheap to add to the update. Phil finished it off with some beautiful baseboards to complete the look. We are very pleased to be done and keep asking, "Now, why didn't we do this earlier??"
We recently got a new sliding door so those pictures are included too.

Aren't these pretty? Notice the 70's contact paper...Levi is enjoying these cabinets being empty!

A very uncomfortable position!

Everything was so much easier once the priming was done.

Caitlyn getting in on the action...

Old slider removal

The work was done by Evan's Glass and they did a fantastic job!! Highly recommended.

Kitchen Update

On a recent trip to Goodwill I picked up a darling bakers rack. My intention was to use it outside for potted plants. I then began to look around my kitchen, the one room in my house that has never been updated. I think I always thought I will just wait to do anything in there until I could get new cabinets, new counter tops, etc. Well, wait no longer. I am going to update on the cheap! I began to brainstorm how I could fix it up a bit. I got the idea to pull off a twelve inch wide counter on my "free" wall and then would be able to put the bakers rack there instead of outside. I then got very excited to get going on my new project!
The next day I decided to paint the yellow bakers rack red. I then went to buy some paint as something had to be done with these white walls!
The next day I pulled off the counter, sanded, spackled, and sanded some more. Phil helped me paint and within two days the kitchen looked totally different. I don't know why I waited so long to do something with the room I spend the most time in!

I am very pleased with how it all turned out. My mom is going to come up and help me tackle painting the cabinets when the weather warms up a bit and then it will really look smashing!

I realized after the fact that I should have taken "before" photos but here are a few "after" ones.

Levi is a smart boy!!!

Today as we were sitting in church Levi began to tug on my shirt giving the signal for some of Momma's milk....
We forgot to bring in our blanket so I proceeded to tell Levi that Mommy did not have a blanket so "no milk."
He just stared at me.
He attempted several more times and I gave him the same run down.

He then looked at me, hopped off my lap, and waddled down the isle about five seats over. There was a coat hanging on the back of a little boys chair and he snatched it up, then came waddling back to me and handed me the coat with the biggest smile on his face! "Problem solved Mom...now how about some of that milk?"

I could not contain my laughter as I guided him back to where he got the coat and quietly explained to the mom why he took her sons coat.

Smart little boy for his 21 months of life experience!

New Year's Performance...

Caitlyn had a blast at the New Year's Bible study performance today! Due to the snow their annual Christmas performance for Community Bible Study was canceled. Caitlyn was so bummed. She was really looking forward to getting on stage to sing.
Well today she got her chance and she loved it! I talked to her in the morning about singing out loud and looking out into the audience. She had no problem there! She told me she was not going to be shy because she has been "just waiting to get up there and sing!" And sing she did...as you can see from the photos!

Kitchen duty...

Here are a few pictures of the kids doing what they love best...sampling some treats from the kitchen!

Levi can't believe the salsa is gone...

I recently tried a delicious brownie recipe my sister in law gave me. They were scrumptious with spinach & carrot puree and bittersweet chocolate! YUM!! As you can see, the kids loved them too!
